When visiting Crossness by foot or bicycle, why not start at old Plumstead Station which opened 16/7/1859 on the 1849 North Kent line and features its fine 1892 wrought iron riveted footbridge with 4 proud detail plaques.

Cross the road outside and within 2 minutes you will be walking or cycling the 2.5mile (4km) green, road-free Ridgeway Path 20 feet up on top of Bazalgette's brick-built sewer-pipe, straight to the Crossness Cathedral of Steam, SE2 9AQ.

Will reduce soon

Atop this earth covered east-west structure affords great views of railway, industrial, housing, sport, wildlife corridors, lakes, old buildings, and plenty of path intersections including a north-south branch of the Green Chain Walk.
